have you ever tried doing a similar piece and using "coffee paint" to color it? It's an interesting way of painting, but i think with this style of character, it would be really cool to see where you can go with it. just a suggestion but I really enjoy your work as-is. thank you for sharing your take on these fantastical creatures... :) yes, a Spiderwick reference as someone has already pointed out before.
